Only Speciality and Exotics Coffees (83+ SCA Score) - Free Deliveries in Vienna
By Stefanny Ariza Published: June 2026
When we named our brand Not Regular Coffee, it wasn't just a marketing slogan. It was a promise to seek out the extraordinary, to reject the generic, and to build direct, personal relationships with the people who make specialty coffee possible.
This past January 2026, that promise took us far away from our usual routines in Vienna and placed us deep in the heart of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia.
Alongside our friends from Gota Coffee, we organized a trip into the lush, mountainous corregimiento of Palmor, in the municipality of Ciénaga. We were there make history—and to be completely blown away by a group of kids who know more about coffee science than most adults.
Not Regular Coffee in partnership with Cafeticos Ancetrales and with the support of Gota Cafe organized the region’s very first International Coffee Challenge. The competitors? More than 40 brilliant children from the Cafeteritos Ancestrales program.
Led by local coffee leader Carlos Garzón, this incredible initiative has trained over 600 indigenous and campesino children since 2023. They aren’t just learning how to pick cherries; they are studying the deep cultural heritage, traditional practices, and cutting-edge science behind producing high-quality specialty coffee.

Watching these kids handle a V60 dripper and Aeropress gear was a masterclass in itself. Their precision with water temperatures, pour rates, and understanding of extraction theory was phenomenal. They didn’t just brew coffee; they spoke with pride about the soil, the altitude of their family farms, and the flavor profiles they were chasing.
To support their incredible journey, we were honored to provide the young masters with school kits and professional coffee preparation methods to help them keep experimenting and learning.
It is easy for a coffee company to write "socially conscious" or "directly traded" on a web page. It’s another thing to sit on a wooden bench in the Colombian mountains, look into the eyes of a young producer, and taste the liquid fruits of their family’s hard work.
When you drink our Sierra Nevada origins, you aren't just tasting notes of chocolate, fruit, or caramelized sugars. You are supporting a community where the youth are actively being empowered to see coffee production not as an outdated chore, but as a prestigious, scientific, and sustainable art form.
We weren't the only ones excited about what happened in Palmor. The local press came out to document the milestone, too. You can read the official feature about the visit and the Cafeteritos Ancestrales program in Hoy Diario del Magdalena:

This trip solidified our mission. We are working closely with these communities to bring the exact lots touched by these traditional and innovative practices straight to your cups.
Thank you to Carlos Garzón, the families of Palmor, and every single Cafeterito who showed us that the future of specialty coffee is in the best possible hands.
Stay tuned—our next roast batch from this region drops soon. And trust us, it is not regular.
